The most famous active volcanoes!

Visiting one of the most active volcanoes in Indonesia and also in the world could be your next to do list for this year. Mount Bromo is located in East Java between Surabaya and Yogyakarta, the 7,641 ft is the most visited tourist attractions in East Java. This place has breathtaking view where you can feel and smell the breath of amazing nature creation. The latest eruption of this mountain was in 2015. There are still some areas that are blocked off from tourists due to its imminent danger. 

WHEN TO GO
The best time to visit Bromo is starting in June-September, or more precisely dry season. Why? Due to good weather and fog-free, so the possibility sunrise looks really great. But summer doesn’t mean that the weather is friendly. This season is actually getting colder, could even reach zero degrees. So bring warm clothes.

WHERE TO START
I started my trip from Malang city, the easiest access to go to Mount Bromo. It takes only 2 to 3 hours drive away from train station or airport comparing from Surabaya and Yogyakarta that will take you around 4 hours or more.
You can stay in Malang and rent a car to visit Bromo from Malang or go to Bromo right away and stay in some villa in Bromo.


WHAT TO DO
Mount Penanjakan is mountain peaks that located to the west of Mount Bromo, it’s location where all visitors waiting in the morning for its sunrise. Also you can enjoy the views of the front row of mountain shell of Mount Bromo and the background of the mountain Semeru.



The crater of Mount Bromo, to reach this location you need to rent a jeep or walk as far as 1.5 km to cross a Sea of Sand. So what do you think? Take Jeep or walk? ;)  

Then to climb the top of the volcano you need to take a 250 of sandy stairs.
P.S: From the jeep parked to the stairs, you can rent a horse to the sandy stairs.



The walk is sandy and dusty but not too difficult. Also when you climb, you could hear the loud rumble of the volcano, it was fantastic!


Temple Poten is a Hindus temple at the foot of Mount Bromo, if you get to the crater bromo certainly past the temple.

GOOD TO KNOW
Take warm clothes, jacket, coat, sweater, shawl, hat, gloves and a mouth mask, which is important because of dust and the sulphur fumes.

Plan your trip with do all the research before backpacking.

When the high season, homestay and accommodation costs will raise and many of them will be full if you aren't booking ahead of time.


Invite a lot of friends, the more friends you got, the cheapest cost you pay. There are some costs that can be shared such as rent Jeep and hotel. But if there are only 1-2 people don’t get panic, you need to go to the jeep’s post and sign up for sharing jeep with a price range of 9 euros.
